Posts About the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival

As indieWIRE?s Eric Kohn pointed out in his wrap-up, complaining about the flaws of the Tribeca Film Festival is a pretty straightforward endeavor. After all, the fest?s World Premieres tended to fall flat and the selection of American indies was really nothing to write home about. Yet in the face of those problems, I think there?s quite a bit to be optimistic about. The international selection offered up some wonderful films, not least of which being the very strong contingent of Scandinavian works including ?Turn Me On, Goddammit,? ?She Monkeys,? ?The Good Life,? and Sundance hit ?Trollhunter.? These foreign flicks, many of which had already proven themselves in their home countries (notably enormous box-office success ?Let the Bullets Fly?), really enriched the program. The shorts line-up was also very strong, including some of the best American films in the entire festival alongside a commendable selection of documentaries. We?ll try to keep track of them, if and when our favorites come to the web.

We took in about 40 features and 50-odd shorts between the two of us, and wrote up quite a few of them here on the site. Here?s a round-up of our Tribeca coverage:
