Colin Farrell gets even sexier, wins award for his advocacy of special-needs kids

OMG, look at Colin Farrell. He looks incredible, right? Or am I hallucinating? You know who he reminds me of? Timothy Olyphant. I?d always found Olyphant attractive when he was younger, but as Olyphant aged, and he started rocking some grey at his temples, all of a sudden it was like ?OMG, this man is FINE.? That?s what these Colin Farrell photos remind me of ? Colin is sober, he?s fit and trim yet muscular, his clothes fit better and he?s taking better care of himself overall. Plus, the grey. And all of a sudden he?s no longer the mangy Irishman who won?t remember your name the next morning. He?s the Irish sex God who will bang you until the headboard breaks and then he?ll make you breakfast. RIGHT? Or is that just me?

So these are photos of Colin at the American Giving Awards, where he was honored for his work raising awareness of Angelman Syndrome, which his first son James has. Colin is also a supporter of the Special Olympics, which is awesome. Colin has been giving more interviews about Angelman Syndrome lately and? I don?t know, he moves me. When he talks about his son, I?m moved and I?m consistently impressed with the changes he?s made in his life and how committed he is to being a hands-on father to a special needs kid. Last week, Colin was the guest of honor at the Chicago gala for the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics (FAST). He calls his son ?Jimmy?, and here?s part of his speech:

?He?s kind of lifted me in that sometimes tremulous hand of his. I ain?t saying I?m a great man or nothing, but I?m getting to be about as good a fellow as I?m going to be. A lot of the reason is James has come into my life and gifted me the opportunity to look outside myself and to watch his every difficulty and to watch his insurmountable spirit just forge ahead in life.?

It was all so different a few years ago when Colin Farrell was on a Special Olympics panel in China. A journalist asked him why he was involved with the organization and, determined to protect James?s privacy, he gave a pat answer.

?I found myself not speaking about what I wanted to really speak about so much,? he said at the weekend. That night, he said he went to bed devastated that he hadn?t been honest: ?I just thought, ?Well, maybe it?s time. I just have to speak about him. And once I?m not protecting him, what?s going to happen if I speak publicly about his condition? Nothing really.?

He called his son?s mother, model Kim Bordenave, and suggested the time had come for him to acknowledge James?s condition. The next day he spoke about Angelman for the first time during an interview. Since then, he has helped raise awareness by talking about James?s condition whenever he is on promotional rounds. An appearance on the Letterman chat show in America led to a significant rise in donations to FAST and turned Farrell into something of a poster boy for AS. And, such has been Colin Farrell?s enthusiasm for the charity?s work, he sponsored 100 families which enabled them to attend last weekend?s conference and share their experiences.

[From The Irish Independent]

Sigh? all of that hotness, heart and then some. It?s okay to love him, right? We?re not complaining about how he?s dirty and stuff anymore, right? Because I love him, and I always have.

  1. Damn! Now I have to go to confession.

  2. I have loved him since Tigerland, he is a good actor, hopefully he?ll get some good roles soon

  3. A great big ?meh? from me. He?s like Bono in that the Irish collectively decided that they didn?t want him.

  4. Gosh I always love him dirty and all.

    • I would say that is true of Bono, most of the Irish think he is a plonker and full of himself (and a bit of a hypocrit for lecturing the world on third world debt forgiveness when he choses to be a tax exile from his own country) But Colin Farrell has a lot of respect here in Ireland, most for his acting ability.

  5. He is hasbeen and manwhore.

    • True, I have no respect in how he routinely knocks up a girl, pretends to have a relationship for a few months, and then suddenly ends it. Plus, that story about him telling calling that woman he was dating and telling her he wanted to take their relationship to the next level, he boards a plane to fly wherever she is, and when he shows up at her door, he proclaims he needs his space. Is there a word to describe that? Douche maybe? I?m tired of that word, but can?t think of another one. Anyway, sounds emotionally unstable.

  6. Meh.
Not sexy and bad actor. No thanks.

  7. He?s GOOD LOOKIN and aging like a fine wine??..but I do think it?s possible that he wouldn?t be the best person to be in a relationship with.

  8. He looks really good. Damn, he has aged well. I see the Olyphant. Grr?Another one who makes me weak in the knees and willing to do anything.

  9. He visits the local Childrens hospital here in Dublin on on Christmas day an hangs out for a few hours, playing with the kids and chattin with staff and parents. He brings no press and prefers no cameras. Out nurse met him one year and said he looks in person just like he does on film. Everyone loves him.

  10. This man in The New World? Nothing compares. Something about working for Terrence Malick makes the average hottie even hotter. I?m thinking Sam Shepard and Richard Gere in Days of Heaven or even James Caviezel in Thin Red Line.

  11. Sorry, but he is still a dirty womanizer and serial baby father. I don?t find him hot and never understood the campaign to make him hot. But, I applaud his charity work and commitment to a wonderful cause, at least he is not selfish.

  12. Ok when did the grey happen? Looks good though, gets better with age!

?He?s the Irish sex God who will bang you until the headboard breaks and then he?ll make you breakfast.?

That fantasy dissapeared when I turned 16. After I watched Tigerland on TV I was so in love and would devour every little thing I read about him, being seriously pissed whenever he was linked with somebody (so all the time I guess) and watch The Recruit, Phone Booth and Minority Report. Aaaand then came Miami Vice. It was a nasty break-up.

He stands up for what he beliefs in which makes him a true man in my eyes not just some girly fantasy (anymore :D ). He?s also supportive of the LGBT communtity. I find his speeches well thought about and sincere. A man of many talents?

    • Many actors support those causes. Personally, I think he?s been in shite films and needs the good PR. Am I cynical? Yes, because from what I?ve read about him, he needs it.

Report this comment as spam or abuse

      • - Did I say I watched those films for the content? Haha, please as if :D . No, my hormones dictated me to rent those DVD?s or freak out when it was on TV in the weekend. Tigerland was good though!
However, I do think that he is a wonderful talented actor, it?s just his personal life that is messy in certain aspects.

        - Yes, I know but this is a post about CF so I don?t feel the need to name other actors who support causes (also many of them are doing it low-key) + I didn?t expect such behaviour and values from him to be honest so I give him props for that =). When you try to put your voice and fame behind a good cause, I can?t shit on that (unless it?s YouKnowWho). Give me a post about his babymammas and I?ll sing a different tune.

        - I think if more people were cynical, there wouldn?t be so much crap on TV.

    • He?s had the grey for awhile, a few years at least. I saw the grey when he was doing publicity for In Bruges. He just dyes it for films.

      • Ok thanks for the info =)!

Good thing I missed the update in his looks, that keeps me away from his personal life so I can enjoy his endeavours as an actor more.

  18. Have loved Colin ever since I first saw him on screen. I?m glad he?s ?cleaning up? his act/persona?.as selfishness never adds to a person.

That being said, I must shamefully admit?.that I like my Colin w/longer hair!! LOL!

  22. Oh my goodness! He?s so hot and yum.
No one is perfect and everyone has the ability to change. I don?t know why people are holding stuff against him that happened in his past. He?s gotten himself together and becoming a father seems to have changed him for the better. Btw I would love to hold him against me :)

  27. Don?t like him, but if having him associated w/Angelman Syndrome brings in more awareness & money for them, that can only be a good thing. I only know a little bit about Angelman Syndrome from my epilepsy support groups, but from what I do know, it?s pretty devastating.

  28. ?It?s okay to love him, right? We?re not complaining about how he?s dirty and stuff anymore, right??
I loved him when he was dirty, too. And while I think some hot eye contact would probably get me pregnant, I would do it. Whether he forgets my name or makes me breakfast (although if I let him knock me up, lets hope its the latter).

    • LMAO. Bring on the hot eye contact. I could be satisfied. He looks good. He is one of those men you know is going to destroy your life and heart but you still want him. I think he looks good. Has that nice edge to him.

  29. His eyebrows are a turnoff, and the earrings are douchey.

Report this comment as spam or abuse

    • Oh good, I?m not the only one disturbed by the earrings! He?s hot, but I cannot get past the earrings. They?re all I can focus on!!

Report this comment as spam or abuse

    • Ha ha, me too about the earrings. Way too George Michael.

Despite his checkered past I do admire his helping to raise awareness for his son?s condition. As the mom of a boy on the autism spectrum, I know how every bit of awareness helps.

  30. He never did much for me in movies, but then I saw him interviewed with Rihanna on The Graham Norton show, and OMG, so charming!

Reminded me a bit of Clark Gable?s roguish looks and charm.

Have a you seen his London Boulevard (2010) with Keira Knightley? There?s lots of suit-wearing London tough guy awesomeness in that.

  31. I disliked him for years (as overrated) but this last year he?s grown on me. He has a comedic streak that I never knew he had and he is definitely hot with the grey.

  32. ?Some people always want credit for something they?re supposed to do. They?ll brag about stuff a normal man just does. They?ll say something like, ?Yeah, well, I take care of my kids.? You?re supposed to, dumbass. Whaddya want? A cookie??

    -Chris Rock

So, yeah, I?m glad he?s involved with his kid, but I can?t say I?m impressed or moved by a guy being a ?hands-on father? since as far as I?m concerned, he?s just doing what he?s supposed to do.

I?m not impressed by a woman being a ?hands-on mother? either, but obviously no one in a million years would praise a female version of Colin Farrell for being a ?hands on mother? ? in fact, people would probably think she was kind of a crappy mom.
